In an idle moment, I poked around the net a bit, looking for Honor Harrington fanfic. There's very little out there, unfortunately, and what there is is, well, dreadful. If you're going to write fanfic, make it a bit plausible? What's worse, though, are the PBEM games. They have intro web pages that are badly spelt, badly punctuated, and have some rather unlikely situations. For instance, one of them postulates a Manticoran light cruiser being sent into unexplored territory because one PRH officer who turned himself over to the SKM once accidentally saw a mention of that area in a message sent to a Commissioner. Another had a crew, fairly fully listed, which was all male. There are, of course, more treecats than you can shake a stick at, all of whom seem to lend their people empathic abilities. And the grasp of tactics, let alone the tech... in one of them, the first invention is an impeller wedge that completely surrounds the ship, rendering it impervious to missiles. I mean, come on!
