Let's see, I haven't really updated since Friday. SO.. Friday evening, game, which went a bit awry on the the timing. The trouble seems to be that the decisive players get less time, because I percieve the same amount of stuff happening to them as to the less decisive players, who then get more time. This will be fixed by an egg-timer or something similar, so Dublin people are please to look out for a seven-minute sandglass or something similar for me.

Saturday morning, up early to get out to Gaelcon and run the Planescape game, which I thought went very well. I had good players at my table, and we finished on the nose of three hours. Poked at the trade stands - admittedly looking for stuff to order through Greenwood Games than for stuff to buy, but bought a drinking horn for [livejournal.com profile] inannajones.

Then went back into town, met [livejournal.com profile] inannajones and [livejournal.com profile] olethros, who were shopping. So I stood outside the shops while they went inside, and then we went to Goodworld for dinner. Goodworld is the best Chinese restaurant in Dublin, bar none. And we're recognised there by now, so they don't try to give us forks.

Thence to [livejournal.com profile] olethros place, out again to find icecream, back in, and then [livejournal.com profile] metalrabbit phoned, so we all went to their place. Her brother proceeded to get to an amusingly drunk state and rant a sort of political-violence-burn-them-all rant. And [livejournal.com profile] mr_wombat had a very nice white port knocking about.

Sunday... Sunday's a bit of a blank. Oh yeah, grocery shopping, some cleaning up, and then a major reformatting of the sitting room, resulting in a room that looks about twice the size it was. Which was pleasing. I like moving furniture around. And a bath in the evening was very pleasant, although due to that and another Lush product, there was glitter everywhere, and due to being a Hairy Bloke, there's still more glitter on me than on your average perkygoth.

Then Monday, a bank holiday here... went into town, didn't get anything we were looking for, really, but did get the new Dungeon, which has rules for d20 Mecha in the Polyhedron part. And we bought some nice odds and ends of food in Avoca. Then home, bit of netsurfing from [livejournal.com profile] inannajones' machine, and then an evening of playing Neverwinter Nights. Which ended in a fight with some form of automaton that seems damn near impossible to beat... and then the machine crashed. Bah to it. But a relaxing weekend, all told.

Your great big link isn't working - I think you missed a '/users/' in there somewhere...

Chinese restaurant seems good though. I get urges to eat with chopsticks when I'm not in restaurants occasionally (when eating bite-sized anythings) but it's a bit too pretentious to follow through with, in public at least.

Whoops. Fixed now.

Screw pretension :). Carry chopsticks with you if you like, and eat with them whenever you feel like it.

Love chopsticls. I generally ask for 'em when I go to my favorite Chinese takeout at home. It bothers me when a Chinese place doesn't give out chopsticks. How odd.

I found chinese food in Ireland to be very different from what I'm used to. It's mostly the cooking oil or something they use; I don't know. I just know I tend to prefer Amrican chinese food. *shrugs* Perhaps if you had chinese here on your honeymoon, you could enlighten me with your view of it.

The new Dragon, eh? My friend, [livejournal.com profile] anu3bis and his wife just purchased the most recent one, which was then declared sealed by anu3bis, since there was some material in it that correlated directly to some ideas he had. I am choosing notn to read it because, though I am on Gaming Hiatus, I have made Hiatus Exception for Viv's campaign (anu3bis's wife, currently running a beautiful campaign of RTEE). So who knows, I may end up in anu3bis's Planescape campaign (do ask him about it if you like planescape. It sounds oh so pretty).

Chinese food vs. chinese takeout

One is about four times the price of the other and you can taste the difference. There's lots of Chinese takeouts, Tin Tins being the best of them, but not as many Chinese Restaurants.

I prefer the one at the bottom of Pembroke Road to Good World. Many lovely prawn and squid dishes:)

Re: Chinese food vs. chinese takeout

Echh. All forms of seafood are safe from me. On the other hand, I find it interesting that there is a major distinction between takeout and restaurant food. I guess the same could be said of here. But I'm used to the distinctin. I guess I never experienced it there.

My favorite food has to be peking ravioli, aka potstickers.

Re: Chinese food vs. chinese takeout

I have been craving those for weeks now! I finally found a recipe, just need to get round to trying it out... Tried asking my Chinese stepmum how she makes them, but she just got all stunned by the fact that I didn't know something that simple...

Re: Chinese food vs. chinese takeout

oooh. Wonderful. Please be sure to let me know how the rav turns out when you make it. A couple of my friends have tried to make it before, but it didn't come out exactly as they planned. Also, if you're feeling like sharing the recipe, I'd love to hear it. ;)

Mmm. Peking rav... between that and a bowl of nice hot and sour soup, I am a very happy man.
