It's difficult to be coherent, because I have lots of energy. I got enough rest over the two weeks away that I'm sort of buzzing now, able to do lots and lots of stuff. Some of this energy is spilling over into a sort of short attention span, so this will probably consist of many disjointed sentences.

It was cold. It was -26°C for a good bit of the last week, and dipped to -28° and below. It was great. I spent a good bit of the time trying to memorise the feeling of such cold, or at least memorise a description of it so that I can use it in games.

There was a pheasant at [livejournal.com profile] inannnajones' grandmother's house, who trotted along every morning and ate the birdfood set out. He was gorgeous. Different colours to the pheasants I know here.

Christmas was great. Presents, food, family feeling. [livejournal.com profile] inannajones' god-daughter was there this year too, and she's a really nice kid. I was more frustrated by not being able to talk to her than to anyone else, but we communicated well enough by gesture and the few words of Finnish I have and the few words of English she has. I got a Nightwish CD (Oceanborn), and a Moomin storybook in Swedish, and many clothes and a new bag, which is rather nice - I keep thinking it's smaller than the old one, but it has extra compartments and therefore actually fits more.

I ate link-sausage on Karelian pastries until they were coming out my ears, and still didn't tire of them. The pear-cider did start to pale a little, although only a little. Looking forward to the next Bulmers; the contrast will be good. And there was much wine, and much eating in general.

Fireworks at New Year. I was grinning like a loon for about an hour straight as we watched the other fireworks in the area and let off our own - a bunch of rockets and something called a Giant Thunder King, which was the business. Sort of a spirally trail of light and a loud and glittery explosion at the top, which doesn't really do it justice.

Sauna. Mmmm, sauna.

I got a great deal of plotting done for all three games and a few more besides, although I should learn that I just can't write, and give up wasting time trying. I can do good dialog, excellent short first-person pieces, and adequate factual writing, but longer writing is not going to work for a while. But the plotting was and will be useful.

I'm glad we have a couple of days to get back into the swing of things here - going straight back to work would be less than pleasant. Monday morning will come in its own time.
