I wonder if there's any setting in Eudora or the like that allows you to edit incoming mail headers. Cos there's one person at present whose handle (not address, just the name on the From: line) is mis-spelt, deliberately or otherwise, and it's driving me spare. At the same time, it's not important enough to bring up with them. If I could just quietly correct it...

If it really bothers you, put the messages in a mailbox by themselves, close Eudora and then make the desired change in the mailbox's file. If it is a Windows version of Eudora, the file will be called MailboxName.mbx. Mailbox files are just text files that you can edit with any text editor. I'm not sure about the Mac version, but the Windows version will want to rebuild the toc file after you edit the mbx file, which is why you want to put the messages in a mailbox by themselves. Once that's done, you can transfer them back to wherever you want them to be. It's a bit of work, and needs to be done to every message, so unless it is really driving you crazy, I wouldn't bother. If it is annoying enough, it might be worth it though.

Reasonably recent Windows versions of Eudora also let you edit the headers if you are using the MS viewer, but that doesn't change what is in the table of contents.
