Why is it that almost every Irish person on LJ - who I don't know personally - who can write coherently turns out to be into slash? Is the universe trying to tell me something?

Exaggeration for effect, of course.

Besides being the Gn'R's ex-lead guitar... what is slash?

Ermm... well, we are probably to meet tomorrow, so maybe that doesn't count, but slash bores me to tears? Does that help?

Thanks for adding me to your friends list, and for supporting our conscience-salving efforts tomorrow!

It does help somewhat, and I look forward to meeting you. As long as we do not lay eyes on the same obscure and desirable book at the same time, I'm sure we'll get along fine. :)

Can't answer that one for you (not Irish, not into slash). I had never even heard of slash before starting my LJ; seems that nearly everyone I've seen who lists "writing" as an interest writes slash.

Have some friends who write slash but I don't! Don't really read any of it either!

Personally (as I probably mentioned before) the idea of fan fiction in general strikes me as blasphemous in general. Slash in particular I just find creepy because it invariably seems to involve my childhood heros engaged in crazy shit with a zebra.

Crazy shit with a zebra would be more interesting then most slash I've read. By this it should be clear that I am not a slash fan.... Of course, I'm not Irish either. So maybe I should just shut up on this thread. :)

Herself is a big fan of slash. I tried for the sake of domestic harmony to read some of it but got bored and moved on fairly quickly.

We're into slash because there's something in the air that makes us perverts, and we can write coherently because if you read enough bad slash, the laws of grammar sort of set up permanent shop in the back room of the mind. I bet we're all insanely anal beta-readers, too.
