Something that occasionally ticks me off about slash fanfic - why do people write stories where everyone is gay? The statistical likelihood is, uh, low, and it does rather strain the suspension of disbelief.

And since I know that there are several fanfic writers, readers, and participants reading this, can someone recommend some decent plot-heavy, romance-light fanfic in any of: Harry Potter, X-Men, X-Files, B5, ST:TNG or ST:DS9, or Star Wars? And if such things exist, Diane Duane, Barabara Hambly, or Chine Mieville fanfic would be very welcome.

Heh. The first "slash" fiction I ever read was before there was such a thing as slash, per se--it was a book called something like, "The Erotic Adventures of Sherlock Holmes". Holmes and Watson, of course, were gay. So was Moriarty. So were the cops that our heroes worked with. So were the other villains (you don't want to think about how he did the killings in "A study in Scarlet". You just don't). Watson's wife was a boy. And Mrs Hudson was a man in drag! Not only were there no straight men in Victorian London, there were apparantly no women at all!

No straight men in Victorian London?

Oscar Wilde would've loved that, I'm sure. ::giggle::
