I worked a bit last night on pushing LJ into a new style; you can see the results here if you don't mind waiting a little while for the images to come down. I'm not actually that happy with it - the colour range is good, and pretty close to what I wanted, although the green links don't fit. But the left-hand image is too big, and I'm not sure how much I can resize it without making it unclear, and the right-hand images aren't doing quite what I wanted yet. I'll see what I can do at lunchtime again. Black and red and gold is a good colour set, though, so I'll be sticking with that, at least. The friends page, however, needs some thought - just shoving the standard table in means that the page becomes much too wide for even a 1024-wide display, and the colours clash something awful in those wide blocks.

It's a truly gorgeous day today, and I really regretted coming inside when I got to work.

Something I forgot to mention yesterday.. I was leaving the house early, just at dawn. The sky was heavy with dark clouds, just a few cracks to the east, where the sun was rising red. As I got near the gates, I glanced up and eastward - and saw the Eye of Sauron perfectly formed in the sky, vertical pupil, flame shapes and all. Freaked the hell outta me...

That style now looks much better. Layout is improved, link colours changed. I'd appreciate feedback from people on Mac and Unix systems, and those on very low and very high resolutions. And anyone like [livejournal.com profile] olethros, who uses his browser at less than full screen. Look here.

Incidentally, for those of you interested in such things as domains and internet name-space, I'd recommend you get in and read this. It's [livejournal.com profile] olethros' tech journal, dealing with all kinds of issues in and around network issues. Well worth the reading.

Just back from the Peacock Theatre, from seeing Done Up Like A Kipper, because [livejournal.com profile] syleth gave [livejournal.com profile] inannajones two tickets for her birthday. I haven't much experience of theatres, so I'm not going to attempt to say much about it, except that it was damn good. It was so very Irish that I suspect some of the non-Irish people in the audience had to be scratching their heads a bit. And I'm going to be quoting punchlines to myself and giggling for days now.
