I think that after nine months back working, I'm finally getting to the point where I can call myself a web developer again and not feel slightly untruthful. I'm up-to-date again on what browsers can and can't do what, and I can remember how to styles without looking it up. I can answer questions again. It's incredible how much I fell back, knowledge-wise, in the five months out of work. Of course, the thing that makes the difference is that the web moves fast, and five months is like three years in any other industry, if not more. I'm taking this lunchtime to play a little with a few images, see if I can come up with something good for my website.
Aaand... one hour later, I have the beginnings of the layout of a page. I'll be doing more with the top left image, I think, if I go with this one, but the basics are here. Comments will be very welcome - and indeed, I could use some; I've no idea if I like that because it's Thor, or I like that because it's starting to look OK. The main image there is "Thor and the Giants", painted by a bloke called W.E. Winge in 1890. It may take a little while to load; it's far from optimised yet.
