I really hate virii. There's a Nimda infection on my desktop and on Nina's laptop, and it's a cast iron bitch to get rid of. I downloaded a specific cleaner, and reinstalled Norton Antivirus last night, and I really did think that the desktop at least was clean. But I came down this morning to two of Nimda's characteristic little Outlook files sitting on the desktop, and Norton has picked up about 2000 infected files so far, and is still counting. Fortunately, I don't use Outlook, and I have it as uninstalled as I can, so I think the only way it can spread is on the network; mails from me should be safe.

Norton also found files for seven other virii last night, all in the attached files directory, rather than actually infecting. And for jollies, I downloaded Ad-aware, and it found some 172 instances of unpleasant stuff. And I don't use IE, nor install much in the way of dodgy software.

Ugh.

The virus checker is finally returning clean on the desktop. I'm guessing the laptop will need attention too, but I have to go to work at this stage. Again, bah to virii.

I feel sorry for the new graphic designer here - she's really being dropped in at the deep end, with golf promotions flying around the place this week, and people asking her for dozens of graphics, which all have to fit with the existing graphics, and be the right sizes, and the right colours, and so on. Our old GD is out today, so the new one is really in the firing line.

Sometime soon, there'll be another webslinger hired, and some of the heat will be off me, too. That'll be nice.

Right, back to work...

Memo to self: Point people at [livejournal.com profile] niallm so they can comment on his poetry, since I've lost all poet-critical talent I ever had, and can mainly stand there gaping, and wondering if applause is appropriate for poetry.
