I know -2°C doesn't seem all that cold to you Colonials. Bear in mind that this is the first time that it's dipped below zero all winter in Dublin (city, not county), and that we usually have wind of 10mph or more here, and higher humidity than most places. For an island sitting in the Gulf Stream, -2°C is pretty good going.

it's about -4 C here, and has been every day for a while. I know this because my handy outdoor thermometer reads in both Fahrenheit and Celsius; I suck at conversions.

This is Georgia, and is about as cold as it usually gets here. Which wouldn't be so bad, only the house we are living in is typical pre-air-conditioning Southern construction (built for coolness, not warmth...)
