Lightning over snow?

So I'm sitting here, watching the snow fall, and suddenly there's a flash of lightning and this huge roll of thunder. Temperature has dropped 3°C since I woke up. Wow.

That really made me jump.

I've been busy counting flashes and rolls of thunder - it was almost directly overhead here about an hour ago - has moved some five miles off since... this is the type of hobby I have, yes, I really need a job.

There was lots! Bright yellow lightning, as apposed to blue lightning. Thunder was only loud (round here) for a few minutes, before it moved off (east, I think).

Wow! I didn't see any lightening. I was still in bed at that stage. I could have dozed off again before there was more thunder.
