So I'm sitting here, watching the snow fall, and suddenly there's a flash of lightning and this huge roll of thunder. Temperature has dropped 3°C since I woke up. Wow.
I've been busy counting flashes and rolls of thunder - it was almost directly overhead here about an hour ago - has moved some five miles off since... this is the type of hobby I have, yes, I really need a job.
There was lots! Bright yellow lightning, as apposed to blue lightning. Thunder was only loud (round here) for a few minutes, before it moved off (east, I think).
It started at 7 or thereabouts. Our (oil fired) central heating had just come on and I thought the thunder was the sound of the boiler exploding. It got me out of bed quicker than a child on Christmas morning.
Weird. I arrived into work about 8.15, and there was a huge bang then... but we're right beside the port tunnels works, and other constructions stuff, so I thought it was just that...
to my everlasting shame, I actually thought 'I hope that's the bloody apocalypse, because I really don't want to have to walk across town in a bloody thunderstorm'.

It is true that the Irish are obsessed with the weather, for sure.

Caused a big stir for the weather forecasting folks, too. Then again, they like to sensationalize everything they come across these days.
I'm thinking that a nice lightning display above a winter forest scene would make for a very interesting photograph...
