Lightning over snow?

So I'm sitting here, watching the snow fall, and suddenly there's a flash of lightning and this huge roll of thunder. Temperature has dropped 3°C since I woke up. Wow.

That really made me jump.

We had a chance of thunder and lightning one or three snowstorms back, but I've never (that I can remember) actually seen (or heard) such a thing.

Caused a big stir for the weather forecasting folks, too. Then again, they like to sensationalize everything they come across these days.

I'm thinking that a nice lightning display above a winter forest scene would make for a very interesting photograph...
