Hunting for a new place to live, to be moved into ideally at the end of February.

We found a place today, except that we'd have to take it way sooner than the end of February.

Cons:
Windows are single glazed.
It's not very big, and there probably wouldn't be room for all our furniture.
I'm not quite sure where we'd put the computers.

Pros:
It's beautiful.
There are working open fireplaces in five out of seven rooms.
There's a really nice garden.
The rent works out lower for everyone, by quite a bit.
There are wooden floors, and the stairs has painted patterns on the risers.
The resident furniture is rustic-y, knobbed and carved.
Bay windows.

You can see which way my mind is going on this one...

With good reason. Sounds wonderful, even if it is cramped. :)

31st January or sooner. We can't stop paying in Mt Argus before the lease is up, though, except by special arrangement, so you won't be out on your ear without warning. :)

Apart from date issues, I'd say take it. Size is always going to be difficult, and you may never find anywhere that's both big and lovely, and could end up with somewhere dull/nasty and small. You can get smaller furniture, saving money on rent allows money be used on heating. People survived centuries without double-glazing and if the windows are otherwise sound it shouldn't really be bad. And if the fireplaces in each room are actually *working* fireplaces then you're sorted!

I'm actually jealous. :)

And you could always ask if they'd be willing to let it go a couple of weeks longer, once they have the deposit from you. They probably won't, but all they can do is say no, and paying rent for 2 places for however long is going to be tough.
